From March 15, BOZAR will host Ukrainian Spring, a festival of Ukrainian culture that combines films, literary discussions and a concert by the internationally acclaimed group Dakh Daughters. This will be the fourth year in a row that Ukraine takes centre stage, having started its successful run in 2016 with Ukraine on Film, aimed at promoting Ukrainian cinema in Belgium.
The film program of UKRAINIAN SPRING includes four films: eastern ‘The Wild Fields’ (2018) by Yaroslav Lodygin, mystical drama ‘The Gateway’ (2017) by Volodymyr Tykhyy, animated fantasy ‘The Stolen Princess: Ruslan and Liudmyla’ (2018) by Oleg Malamuzh, drama ‘Swan Lake: The Zone’ by Yuri Illenko.
The event is supported by the Ukrainian Embassy in Belgium, Ukrainian State Film Agency, the Association of Ukrainians in Belgium, BOZAR and Arthouse Traffic, will be held in BOZAR, Brussels, from March 15 to 17.

A family lives in the Chornobyl exclusion zone, presided over by Baba Prisia, friend of the mermaids. Partaking of the occasional magic mushroom and having sealed the fate of twelve SS thugs during the Second World War, she now lives quietly with her grandson Vovchyk and his daughter Slava, sickly and abandoned by her husband. Their peaceful life comes to an abrupt end when Baba receives a mystical revelation about an impending disaster that must be prevented.
